Tax sale and tax delinquent property lists

Counties and states publish the properties set for a tax deed sale, a tax lien sale, a tax foreclosure or a sheriff's sale. HeritageDeed updates the lists below every night from official county records, shows each property with its sale date and the amount the office publishes, and sets out the bidding and redemption rules with their statutes. Some liens survive a tax sale, so check the title before you bid. Last updated Oct 26, 2026.

Arkansas: the Commissioner of State Lands' auction catalog

The Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands auctions tax-delinquent parcels county by county and posts a catalog before each auction. A county page here lists its parcels while they are in the catalog.

Five kinds of sale, five sets of rules

Tax deed sale (Florida)

The Clerk auctions the property itself after a tax certificate holder applies for a tax deed. The owner can redeem until the tax deed is issued, unless full payment for it has been made (Fla. Stat. 197.472). Unsatisfied city, county, special district and community development district liens of record survive the tax deed (197.552).

Tax lien sale (New York City)

The City sells the unpaid taxes and charges, not the property, to a single authorized buyer that may later foreclose. The public does not bid (NYC Department of Finance).

Delinquent tax sale (South Carolina)

The county sells the property at auction; the owner, a grantee, or a mortgage or judgment creditor may redeem within twelve months, paying the bidder 3 to 12 percent interest (S.C. Code 12-51-90).

Sheriff's sale (Ohio)

A court-ordered sale after a mortgage or tax foreclosure. The debtor may redeem until the court confirms the sale (R.C. 2329.33).

Tax sale auction (Arkansas)

The Commissioner of State Lands auctions tax-delinquent parcels county by county. Since July 1, 2023 a parcel sold by the Commissioner cannot be redeemed (Commissioner of State Lands).

Check the title before you bid

Florida lets city, county, special district and community development district liens survive a tax deed; Horry County makes no warranty on title or liens; Forsyth County sells without opinion as to title; the Montgomery County Sheriff tells buyers to check for back taxes, utility bills and liens. A HeritageDeed title report lists the deeds, the mortgages matched to their releases and the liens of record for the address, in the counties we search. The rows of those counties link straight to the order form.

HeritageDeed does not run auctions, does not bid for anyone and does not sell leads. Each list is the office's own, refreshed nightly; the office decides who may bid and on what terms.

Questions

What is a tax delinquent property list?

The list a county or state office publishes of properties whose taxes are unpaid and which are set for a tax sale, tax deed sale, tax lien sale or tax foreclosure. HeritageDeed updates the official lists on this page every night from official county records.

Can I buy a property just by paying its back taxes?

No. Paying someone else's delinquent taxes does not give you ownership. The Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands says so on its own parcel search, and the properties on these lists change hands only through each office's own sale and rules.

Does a tax sale wipe out mortgages and liens?

It depends on the state and the kind of sale. In Florida, unsatisfied liens held by a city, county, special district or community development district survive the tax deed (Fla. Stat. 197.552). Horry County and the Montgomery County Sheriff sell as is and tell bidders to research liens first. That is why a title search comes before the bid.

Can the owner get the property back after the sale?

In South Carolina the owner, a grantee, or a mortgage or judgment creditor can redeem within twelve months (S.C. Code 12-51-90). In Ohio the debtor can redeem until the court confirms the sale (R.C. 2329.33). In Arkansas a parcel sold by the Commissioner cannot be redeemed. In Florida the owner can redeem until the tax deed is issued.

Is there a 2026 NYC tax lien sale list?

The newest sale in the Department of Finance's data is shown on each borough page with its date. The Department of Finance says the 2025 lien sale was held on June 3, 2025; a new list appears here when the Department publishes one.

Why are owner names shown as initials?

The official lists publish owner names. HeritageDeed shows individual owners as initials and business names in full, and publishes no contact details. The case or parcel number lets you check the full entry with the office.
