NYC UCC search
Enter a business debtor's name. The lookup searches City Register personal property records for Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx: UCC fixture filings on real estate, co-op filings and federal tax lien notices recorded with the City Register, and shows each initial filing with its status (active, lapsed, terminated, released), secured party and the property it is recorded against.
The debtor's exact registered business name. Business debtors only; we do not search people. The first 5 results of each list are free; HeritageDeed Pro shows them all.
Which New York UCC filings are covered
In New York, an ordinary business UCC-1 is filed with the Department of State in Albany and is not part of this lookup. Filings tied to real estate in the city are recorded with the City Register: fixture filings, co-op filings and federal tax lien notices. Those are the ones that matter for a title search, and they are what this lookup covers.
Status follows the record: a termination or release cross-referenced to the filing ends it; otherwise a UCC filing is shown as lapsed five years after filing unless a continuation is on record (UCC 9-515), and a federal tax lien notice over ten years old with no refiling is shown as presumed self-released.
Questions
How do I do a UCC search in New York?
For filings recorded with the NYC City Register (fixtures, co-ops, federal tax liens), enter the business name here. Ordinary business filings statewide are held by the Department of State and are not included in this lookup; an official certified search from the filing office is the answer for a closing.
What is a fixture filing?
A UCC financing statement covering goods attached to real estate, such as building equipment, recorded in the land records where the property is. In New York City it is recorded with the City Register.
Are federal tax liens in NYC property records?
Yes. Notices of federal tax lien against a taxpayer in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx are recorded with the City Register, with releases and withdrawals. The lookup shows them for business debtors.
Can I search UCC filings by a person's name?
No. This tool searches business debtors only and refuses a person's name. Where a business filing also lists a person as co-debtor, the person is shown as initials.
Does a lapsed UCC filing still matter?
A lapsed financing statement no longer perfects the security interest (UCC 9-515), but the debt itself may still exist and a new filing may have replaced it. Terminated filings mean the secured party filed a termination statement.
