UCC search
Enter a business debtor's name. The lookup searches Florida's official UCC registry, New York City's personal property records (fixture filings, co-op filings and federal tax liens), and Colorado and Connecticut UCC records, and shows each financing statement with its filing number, type, filing and lapse dates, status and secured party.
The debtor's exact registered business name. Business debtors only; we do not search people. The first 5 results of each list are free; HeritageDeed Pro shows them all.
What a UCC filing is
A UCC-1 financing statement is the public notice a lender files when it takes a security interest in a borrower's personal property: equipment, inventory, receivables, or fixtures attached to a building. It names the debtor, the secured party and the collateral. A UCC-3 amends, assigns, continues or terminates it.
A filed financing statement is effective for five years after the date of filing and lapses at the end of that period unless a continuation statement is filed before it lapses (UCC 9-515). The lookup shows each filing's lapse date as the registry records it.
Where it is filed: ordinary business filings go to the Secretary of State of the state where the debtor is organized. Fixture filings, which cover equipment attached to real estate, are recorded in the county land records, and in New York City with the City Register, so they appear in a title search.

Questions
How do I do a UCC search?
Enter the debtor's exact registered business name. The lookup searches Florida's official UCC registry, New York City's personal property records at the City Register, and Colorado and Connecticut UCC records. Filings in other states are not included in this lookup.
Is a UCC lien search free?
Yes. This lookup is free for Florida, New York City, Colorado and Connecticut. Some states charge a statutory fee for their own searches, and an official certified search from the filing office is the answer for a closing.
Can I search UCC filings by a person's name?
No. This tool searches business debtors only and refuses a person's name. Where a business filing also lists a person as co-debtor, the person is shown as initials.
Does a lapsed UCC filing still matter?
A lapsed financing statement no longer perfects the security interest (UCC 9-515), but the debt itself may still exist and a new filing may have replaced it. Terminated filings mean the secured party filed a termination statement.
Do UCC filings show up in a title search?
Fixture filings recorded against the real estate do, and so do federal tax lien notices recorded where the property is. A UCC-1 filed only with the Secretary of State covers personal property and is not part of the land records. Our title report includes the fixture filings and federal tax liens recorded against the parcel.
