Each county page lists the amounts with the claim rule and the office that holds the money.
How the figures are made
Every figure is a count or a sum over the official surplus funds lists published by county clerks, treasurers, courts and state offices, read every night. An amount is counted while it is on its office's list; one that disappears from the list is counted as taken off (claimed, paid out, or removed by the office). Deadlines are as published or set by statute; Florida's are estimated as described above. Amounts are as published and can change as claims are paid. No individual record, name or case number is in this report.
HeritageDeed is not a surplus recovery company and does not file claims. Claims are filed with the clerk, court or state office named on each county page, whose instructions describe claimants filing for themselves; a lawyer is optional.

How much surplus money is waiting for former owners?
9,514 surplus amounts totalling $77,374,099 are on the official lists of 96 counties in 6 states (as of Oct 29, 2026). Each amount is money left over after a tax deed, tax or foreclosure sale paid the debt, held by a county office or court for the former owner or lienholders.
